Welcome to Echinobase

To our users: Please check to see if we have already created a Community profile for you.

If you don't have one, we encourage you to create one (use the Register link in the top right of the page) so other members of the Echinoderm research community can find you.

If your profile page already exists and you want to edit it, please contact us and we will provide you with the necessary information to access, edit, and link to your lab members.

The new Echinobase is designed to minimize clicks for accessing gene information. Try searching for your favorite gene and then explore the gene page information and links. Note that gene symbols and names have been updated following new guidelines and aligning with the HGNC guidelines as closely as possible.

There are over 2800 orthologs between S. purpuratus and A. planci and these are displayed on the same gene page (eg foxa1). As new genomes are added and orthologous relationships determined these will also be displayed.

Use JBrowse to examine the genomes and the genomic landscape. Additional tracks will be added as they are processed.

Also, take a look at the partial genome hosting of A. japonica, the feather star, genome with JBrowse and BLAST functionality.

Echinobase has collected the literature associated with your gene and is updated weekly.

The Echinoderm Anatomical Ontology (ECAO) describes cell types and developmental stages for association with gene expression data.

We hope that you enjoy the new Echinobase and please send feedback!

If you discover functions that you used on the previous EchinoBase (now available at legacy.echinobase.org) that are not available on the new Echinobase please contact us.
