Research Description:
There are approximately 2.3 genes in human cells, but most of them are known to be protein blueprints. Protein is made up of chains of hundreds of more than 20 kinds of amino acids, and plays an important role in producing various substances in the body such as enzymes, hormones, muscles and skin. In our laboratory, we study the structure and function of proteins, which are versatile biological substances, by using various measuring instruments, and by synthesizing genetically modified proteins using microorganisms such as Escherichia coli, they are useful. We are conducting research to develop new artificial proteins with various functions.
