Name: Marian Y Hu
Position: Research Group Leader
Research Description:
Functionality is the ultimate trait that shaped the evolution of organisms allowing them to occupy ecological niches in different environments. My research focusses on physiological systems in marine organisms and their interaction with environmental factors. Special interest is dedicated to the development of ion and pH regulatory systems in species of marine taxa including cephalopods, crustaceans, echinoderms and fish. Using a set of selected organisms my research aims at broadening our understanding regarding the development and evolution of physiological systems relevant for metabolism, gastro-intestinal health and biomineralization in times of rapid environmental change.
