The subgenus Micropygomyia, of the genus Lutzomyia, is reviewed. A new species, Lutzomyia absonodonta, previously misidentified as L. micropyga, and the male of L. lewisi are described. Illustrated keys for identifying male and female flies of the Micropygomyia species in Venezuela, distribution maps and notes on the ecology of each species are also provided.
