The curation team is proud to announce that the paper describing the pan-echinoderm ECAO (Echinoderm Anatomy and Development Ontology) is accepted for publication in Development. ECAO is a crucially important system for enabling comparative developmental research in echinoderms and organizing gene expression and phenotype data across ontological stages.

The Echinoderm Anatomical Ontology (ECAO) - 2024-01-19
An ontology has been developed for echinoderms using standardized terms to describe anatomical cell types and structures and developmental stages.
These spatiotemporal terms will be used by curators to link to gene expression data.
