Name: Dr. John Henson
Position: PI
Research Description:
I'm a broadly trained cell biologist with research interests in marine biology, immunology, developmental biology, sustainability, climate change, and public health. My research is primarily in the area of cell motility and division using the sea urchin embryo and coelomocyte as model experimental systems and has been supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. I have spent the majority of the last 20 summers doing research with students at either the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory in Salisbury Cove, ME or the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA. More recently my students and I have remained in Carlisle for summer research in sustainable agriculture at the Dickinson college farm and on the impact of climate change on sea urchin embryogenesis.
