Dr.  Hiroyuki Koga

Position

Assistant Professor

Research Description

My research interests are in the evolution of the forms in multicellular organisms. Especially I am interested in the evolution of leaf forms in plants. I would like to understand how such a variety of leaves are formed through the development and how such various developmental processes emerged in the plant evolution. To understand the mechanisms of various leaf development, I focus on aquatic plants, because they often have interesting features for studying diverse leaf developments. I believe that the accumulation of the knowledge for various plants can make a large contribution to the understanding of the evolutionary mechanisms of the leaf forms.
