Research Area

We use the larval stage of the purple sea urchin to understand different aspects of immune system evolution. Using this morphologically simple, transparent, feeding animal, we ask questions about both the conserved mechanisms that regulate immune response and also the novel mechanisms used to generate immune system diversity.
